Hi, The pain is usually brought on by a lowering in temperature and although it can be sometimes be treated through the application of heat to the area and/or painkillers this unfortunately doesn't always work. The pain is not in one specific area, in my legs it can be anywhere/everywhere from my hip to toes and equally from my shoulder to fingers within the arms and truly is agonising. It may also be worth noting that this pain usually occurs on a night time (at least once a week) and therefore often affects my sleep as well as what I am able to wear (trying to keep warm is a must!) About two years ago now, I finally sought out medical advice from my GP who after running all the usual tests for arthritis etc found nothing and referred me to the hospital. It was there that it was suggested that this could be some form of migraine and I was given various migraine tablets on a trial basis, none of which were to any affect. I visited a physiotherapist, who again found nothing out of the ordinary. Following this, I was diagnosed with having 'hypermobility syndrome' and although I was sceptical at the time (the doctor said this is common, if it's so common why was it not suggested before, I wondered) I was discharged from the hospital and told to continue pain management myself with heat and co-codamol. I have since researched further into hypermobility and do not feel that this is a legitimate diagnosis, as I do not fit into any of the profile and certainly would not say that I am 'double jointed'. Please Help. Thanks, for more you can check References: forums.netdoctor.co.uk/animated infographics
